I recently had the privilege of designing and creating motion graphics for one of the most prestigious events in music—the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize, which honored the famous Elton John and Bernie Taupin. Working alongside Allan Wells and Ian Kennedy at MDOTS Design, we developed custom screen content to accompany the performances throughout the night.

For this project, we pushed the creative envelope, utilizing a variety of tools, including generative AI for both images and motion, before refining everything in Adobe After Effects. The blend of cutting-edge technology and artistic finesse allowed us to craft visuals that were both contemporary and timeless, fitting for an event that celebrated two music icons.

Collaboration was key, and we worked closely with the producers and performers to ensure that the screens perfectly complemented each act’s vision. From the subtle, elegant visuals to the bold, energetic displays, our team tailored the content to highlight the unique essence of each performance.

The Gershwin Prize aired on PBS. Bringing visuals to life for a show of this magnitude was both challenging and rewarding, and we are incredibly proud of the final result.
It was a true honor to once again work with this amazing team, and to be part of an event that celebrated the extraordinary contributions of Elton John and Bernie Taupin to the world of music.
